By
a royal command countersigned by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on
27 October 2012, 20 Cabinet members were discharged and 23 members were
appointed.
The latest Cabinet reshuffle was the third of the present
administration. Out of the 23 portfolios, several members of the second
Yingluck Cabinet were transferred to new positions, while several new
faces were brought into the Cabinet.
So there are both new and old faces in the third Cabinet of the Yingluck administration.
According to the royal command, Mr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul was
appointed as Deputy Prime Minister while holding his current Foreign
Minister post, Mr. Plodprasop Suraswadi as Deputy Prime Minister, Mr.
Phongthep Thepkanjana as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Education, Mr. Varathep Ratanakorn as Minister to the Prime Minister’s
Office, Miss Sansanee Nakpong as Minister to the Prime Minister’s
Office, Mr. Yukol Limlamthong as Minister of Agriculture and
Cooperatives, Mr. Siriwat Kajornprasart as Deputy Minister of
Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Yutthapong Charassathien as Deputy
Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt as
Minister of Transport, General Prin Suwanatat as Deputy Minister of
Transport, Mr. Prasert Chanruangthong as Deputy Minister of Transport,
Mr. Pongsak Raktapongpaisarn as Minister of Energy, Mr. Nattawut Saikuar
as Deputy Commerce Minister, Mr. Charupong Ruangsuwan as Minister of
Interior, Police Lieutenant General Chatt Kuldilok as Deputy Minister of
Interior, Mr. Pracha Prasopdee as Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr.
Sontaya Kunplome as Minister of Culture, Mr. Woravat Auapinyakul, as
Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Sermsak Pongpanit as Deputy
Education Minister, Mr. Pradit Sintavanarong as Minister of Public
Health, Mr. Chonlanan Srikaew as Deputy Minister of Public Health, Mr.
Prasert Boonchaisuk as Ministry of Industry, and Mr. Tarnis Thienthong
as Deputy Minister of Industry.
Prime Minister Yingluck said that two ministers had earlier resigned
from their positions, so Cabinet changes were made for appropriateness
and the benefit of national administration.
The two ministers were former Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives
Theera Wongsamut and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Interior Yongyoot Wichaidit.
