At
the Second Vietnam-Thailand Joint Cabinet Retreat, held recently in
Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vietnam and Thailand discussed the
organizing of projects intended to help the peoples of the two
countries to learn more from each other.
A Thai-Vietnamese joint committee will be set up, with the
purpose of creating more momentum for upgrading Thai-Vietnamese
relations into a strategic partnership at the bilateral, regional, and
international levels, and to broaden and deepen their interactions with
each other, for better cooperation and collaboration in all aspects in
the future.
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime
Minister of Vietnam, gave a news conference on the Joint Cabinet
Retreat. She said that the two countries were preparing to enhance
their relations and cooperation at all levels and in all dimensions,
which would include political, cultural, educational, security, and
economic dimensions.
In addition, Thailand will host a meeting of rubber-producing countries
in December 2012, and Vietnam accepted the invitation to participate in
the meeting. On the subject of rice trading, the two Prime Ministers
agreed on the importance of closer cooperation at both bilateral and
multi-lateral levels in order to stabilize the price of rice, which
would be beneficial to both sides.
The meeting of the two governments’ ministers will play a vital role in
enhancing further cooperation, with a focus on the strengthening of
social, cultural, educational, and labor cooperation, as part of the
move toward the ASEAN community, forging a relationship of mutual trust
and good understanding between the people of the two countries.
