Thai Ambassador to Argentina paid a joint courtesy call on Mr. Mauricio Macri, Governor of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

On 11 April 2013, Mr. Medha Promthep, Thai Ambassador to Argentina, together with Ambassadors and representatives from other ASEAN embassies in Argentina, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, paid a joint courtesy call on Mr. Mauricio Macri, Governor of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

The Governor of Buenos Aires made a remark to welcome diplomatic corps from ASEAN embassies and underlined the importance of the Southeast Asian region especially in the aspect of economic growth which is comparable with that of China and India. Thus, the Governor and Buenos Aires City stand ready to cooperate with ASEAN to promote and strengthen trade and investment relations.

The Thai Ambassador expressed his condolences for the victims and damages caused by the recent flash flood in Buenos Aires City which affected numerous of people. Thailand and other ASEAN countries also experienced the similar natural disaster many times, and stood ready to cooperate with Argentina to extend relevant assistance. Moreover, Thailand would like to continue promoting its relations and cooperation with Argentina in various fields. This year the Royal Thai Embassy has planned to organize a Thai cultural performance in Buenos Aires in July and would like to extend an invitation to Governor Macri to participate in the event.

The joint-call to the Governor of Buenos Aires City is one of the activities arranged by ASEAN embassies in Argentina with an aim to promote the awareness of ASEAN and Southeast Asian region in Argentina and in Latin America.
