Iraq Expressed Interest to Forge Cooperation with ASEAN

With some ASEAN Member States currently having cooperation with Iraq on oil production and construction projects investment, H.E. Mr. Ismieal S. Muhsin, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to ASEAN, expressed Iraq’s desire to further forge cooperation with ASEAN as a whole in the fields of counter-terrorism and energy, especially crude oil and petroleum products.

During the presentation of the Letter of Credence to H.E. Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN today, Ambassador Muhsin also informed SG Minh of the current situation in Iraq—including the step-up oil production.

SG Minh congratulated Ambassador Muhsin for assuming the post of the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to ASEAN and informed Ambassador Muhsin that ASEAN always pays attention to the situation in the Middle East, especially situation in Iraq. He also agreed that ASEAN and Iraq could work together to explore the areas of cooperation such as counter-terrorism, energy security and investment.
