Official Visit to Thailand of U.S. President Barack Obama, Arrival and Joint Press Conference, 18 November 2012

Notice to editors: U.S. President Barack Obama will visit Thailand on 18 November 2012 to mark 180 years of friendship with the Kingdom of Thailand.

Television crews who wish to cover the arrival of President Obama must arrive at Don Mueang Airport (Private Jet Terminal, VIP room area) no later than 11:00 a.m. on 18 November 2012, to have their equipment screened and pre-positioned.

Satellite trucks must be parked and set by 11:00 a.m. as well. All other members of the media should arrive at Don Mueang no later than 1:30 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. reaccess. All members of the media must have photo identification with them at the airport.

Also during the visit, President Obama and Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will hold a joint press conference at the Government House on 18 November 2012. Members of the media who wish to cover the event must arrive at the Government House no later than 3:30 p.m. All members of the media must have photo identification with them at the Government House. Dress is business attire.

Media outlets that wish to cover both the President’s arrival and visit to the Government House must send two separate crews. Due to necessary pre-screening, coverage at both events will not be possible by the same individuals. Numbers will be limited at both locations.

Registration for both events must be made no later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday, 16 November 2012.

Interested members of the media who wish to cover the joint press conference with President Obama and Prime Minister Yingluck must register online at the web site: http://goo.gl/f1LVq and also register with the Government Spokesman Bureau at foreignrelationsdep@gmail.com or via fax at 02-288-4000, extension 4876.

Upon online registration for the U.S. Embassy, members of the media must provide their first name, last name, date of birth, national ID or passport, role (photographer, writer, etc.) and media outlet.
