Thailand Ensures Strength of Security Measures in Response to Possible Terrorist Threat

Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Director-General of the Information Department and Foreign Ministry Spokesman, reaffirmed that Thailand had increased its security measures in response to a possible terrorist threat.

Mr. Thani referred to the travel alert issued by the Embassy of the United States of America, as well as those issued by other embassies. The authorities concerned have been in close co-ordination with each other as well as with relevant countries.

In this regard, security measures have been increased as a precaution to prevent any incident that may occur. The authorities will also continue to remain vigilant and monitor the situation closely.

Regarding security arrangements for diplomatic missions and international organizations, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that the Thai government attaches great importance to the security of diplomatic missions and international organizations and has been in close co-ordination with the agencies concerned to ensure adequate protection for such missions.

Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul earlier emphsized that Thailand is a peace-loving country that has always pursued appropriate policies in the international arena and has friendly relations with all countries.
